If you’ve ever passed by Guastavino’s you know just how iconic the grand entrance looks! With its dazzling lights, ascending steps, stone pillars, and of course, the stunning vaulted architecture for which it’s known. Situated beautifully under the 59th Street Bridge in New York City, Guastavinos Weddings are romantic. Which is saying something since NYC has a myriad of exceptional venues.
And if you’ve never had the opportunity to see the inside of Guastavino’s, I can’t recommend the experience enough. It’s impossible not to stand in awe of the overlapping tiled archways – certainly not your average ceiling! Weddings at this venue are so very unique. Each time I photograph a wedding at Guastavino’s I am blown away!
Prior to the opening of the Queensboro Bridge in 1909, a Spanish architect named Rafael Guastavino and son built it. They used the space under the bridge to construct a large arched canopy from thin, interlocking terracotta tiles. The curved vaulting was equally beautiful and mesmerizing. Although the style had been around for centuries, it was new to America.
So, when the bridge finally opened to traffic, Guastavino and his son developed the area for commercial space. It wasn’t until 1973 that the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission made the building an official NYC landmark. And keeping the name “Guastavino’s” in honor of the architect. Now, the grand building serves as one of the most unique and distinguished event venues in the area.
It goes without saying, the service you will receive from the Guastavino’s event staff is second to none. They truly mean what they say when you read that “Guastavino’s service standards are the highest in New York City.”
They take every measure possible to ensure that couples and their guests are completely satisfied – and more!
When you choose Guastavino’s, you will have a venue coordinator to guide you from beginning to end. They are an expert on every aspect of hosting. In choosing vendors or organizing the design and flow of the event. Their goal: to give you the experience of a lifetime.
Just take a look at their wedding page to see how incredibly versatile the wedding space is. It is fully customizable to reflect the style, personality, and needs of each couple who weds there. You describe your wedding day vision, and they will carry it out! No two weddings are the same at Guastavino’s, so I always look forward to what the next one will hold.
Most couples choose to have their ceremony set up inside beneath the vaults. The Rose Garden also serves as a lovely outdoor space for large weddings. Maybe even a more intimate feel for a smaller ceremony! During the more pleasant months, the Rose Garden is a great option. And if you can’t have the ceremony out there we’ll do our best to get some photos. This space is perfect for romantic photography.
Inside, the first floor is great for hosting a cocktail hour. The mezzanine level can be arranged for just a small ceremony. It can also host up to a full ceremony, dinner, and dance reception with up to 350 guests. This space is yours to fill!
Imagine capturing a First Look as the bride walks down a spiraled staircase toward her husband-to-be. The architecture, lighting, and surrounding NYC features like the Queensboro Bridge, will ensure you have great photo ops.
A wedding at Guastavino’s is an experience unlike any other, and your photos will reflect that. From sharing your first kiss to celebrating the last toast, you’ll have incredible backdrops. The huge floor-to-ceiling arched windows lend themselves to amazing lighting. Which allows me to truly capture each piece of your wedding to the fullest. Your images will look both bright and authentic – perfect for telling the story of your wedding day.
