Capitale Wedding

Capitale New York Wedding

To start, there are many venues to choose from in NYC: the Rainbow Room, The Plaza Hotel all the way to the Central Park Loeb Boathouse. While all these venues are spectacular in every sense, I want to share a wedding venue I recently photographed. There is something truly special about this transcending and eclectic venue, that will make you want to reserve your wedding date immediately after reading this story.

Before we jump into the beautiful Luxe Art Deco Wedding celebrated at Capitale, I want to share a few reasons why Capitale is one of my favorites in NYC:

1) Location, Location, Location

130 Bowery in Lower Manhattan, this wedding venue is a prime NYC destination. You’re pretty much surrounded by some of my favorite neighborhoods in Manhattan, all of which are within walking distance. You are a couple of blocks away from SoHo, Chinatown, Little Italy, and the Lower East Side. Each of these exciting neighborhoods offers its own culture, nightlife, restaurants, attractions, and shopping. Your guests can score some delicious dumplings from Chinatown, a hot slice of pizza from Little Italy, some high-end cocktails from the Lower East Side, or even some designer clothing from the shops in SoHo

2) The Architecture

When you first walk inside Capitale, you will be speechless as you gaze upon the soaring Corinthian columns, a dazzling decorated coved ceiling, and the renowned art class skylight. This is the perfect location to dance the night away while celebrating your wedding day

Capitale was originally the Bowery Savings Bank, designed by the famous architect Stanford White. White is known for having designed the Washington Square Arch, a Fifth Avenue Mansion formerly owned by the Rockefeller family, the New York Herald building, The Tiffany Building, the Boston Public Library, and a few branches of the New York Public Library. You can expect to be excited to see a piece of history when walking into Capitale

3) The Food

If you are into food and looking to be blown away on the day of your wedding, then Capitale is the perfect NYC wedding venue for you.

Their cocktail reception and passed butler-style experience will have your guests running to grab Capitale’s famous gourmet preparations. From Baby Lamb Chops Provençale to Grilled Shrimp with a Dona Isabelle Chili Sauce, to Herbed Polenta with Roasted Pepper Relish; you and your partner will be able to customize your menu that matches your taste buds

Now to touch further on why Capitale is a prime venue, let’s introduce you to our beautiful spotlight couple, James and Claire.

Luxe Art Deco Wedding at Capitale

A New York City wedding has three things:

  1. A lavish venue filled with historical significance.
  2. Portraits with the wedding party in the busy city streets.
  3. A chic madly in love couple who carefully consider every detail of their wedding day.

James and Claire’s magical wedding at one of New York’s most elegant venues, Capitale, had all of that and more

Before The Ceremony

Before the ceremony was set to begin, we wandered the narrow streets of Lower Manhattan. Our wedding party’s first stop for pictures was at the iconic Manhattan Bridge Archway. With a vintage NYC yellow cab in tow, we showered the couple in confetti on the streets of Chinatown. We captured some of my favorite pictures taken to date. Check out the pictures below to see what I mean

Inside The Ceremony

Inside the grand ballroom of what used to be the Bowery Savings Bank, the tall 65-foot ceilings and striking architecture can be seen.

This provided the most elegant of settings for James and Claire to exchange vows. With candles at the front and a spotlight on the happy couple, the venue served as an apt backdrop. It mirrors the sophistication and significance of the two who are declaring their love for each other. After the groom kisses his bride, the room transforms for reception. Elegance spilled off the tables.  Each table was decorated with luxurious art-deco details, feather centerpieces, and gorgeously lush florals. The newlyweds made their grand entrance on the balcony as cheers echoed from below. The rest of the night was filled with smiles and laughter. Every guest had the time of their lives.

After the party is the afterparty…

To conclude, these newlyweds ran through a line of sparklers. They drove off into the night in a vintage taxi. This was the beginning of the next chapter in their lives. Of all the wedding venues in NYC, Capitale is one of the most beautiful and extravagant venues.
It couldn’t have been a more perfect place for James and Claire to celebrate their wedding day
